2014 Truffle Kerfuffle Launch at Bib and Tucker

In Western Australia, we are blessed that the southern hemisphere is the largest producing region of truffles. Western Australia is also currently the biggest producer of truffles outside of Europe with truffles in Manjimup comparable to taste and texture of European truffles. So…what are truffles? Truffles are exotic, uniquely flavoured, gourmet mushrooms that grow on the roots of hazelnut and oak trees inoculated with imported truffle spores from France. Truffles can be found centimetres under the ground. From the title of the event, Truffle Kerfuffle is an event dedicated purely to truffles and will be held on the weekend of 27-29 … Continue reading 2014 Truffle Kerfuffle Launch at Bib and Tucker

Stewart’s at Brookleigh

Sometimes during the weekends, the family and I will take a drive down to the heart of Swan Valley for a good lunch, away from the hustle and bustle of Perth City. One of the places that my family and I have often dined in Swan Valley, is the picturesque Stewart’s at Brookleigh. Apart from the restaurant, the Brookleigh Estate also features an equestrian centre, function centre, health and spa retreats and luxury and affordable accommodation options. To start off, we had some Small Plates to share. We had the Fresh figs, gorgonzola, arancini, shaved parma ham, vincotto and basil … Continue reading Stewart’s at Brookleigh

The Hub Grill

Located among the shops in the Shelley Hub lies The Hub Grill, a true hidden gem. Everything is cooked from the heart to the table by the friendly chef and owner, Zaw, who is very welcoming and treats his customers like good friends. The staff at Hub Grill are also very friendly too. Although Zaw has a few waitstaff to assist him on weekends and sometimes one during weekdays, it is a one man band in the kitchen as all the dishes are cooked personally by Zaw. This was my second visit to Hub Grill and this time I brought … Continue reading The Hub Grill

Hunter’s Lodge

I was searching for Fine Dining Restaurants one day on Urbanspoon (doing “research” as usual) and I stumbled upon this restaurant with a very good rating which was Hunter’s Lodge. Hunter’s Lodge is located in Wungong which is close to Armadale. I, myself have not even heard of a suburb called Wungong but nevertheless, for good food, one must be willing to travel the distance. My family and I decided to have dinner at Hunter’s Lodge just for something different and outside the vicinity of Perth City. It was a 45 minute drive to Hunter’s Lodge and I can say … Continue reading Hunter’s Lodge

Nine Fine Food

Konnichiwa and G’day mate!  What do you get when you get a fusion of Japanese and Modern Australian flavours? The result lies in Nine Fine Food. Nine Fine Food offers fine, quality, modern Japanese with a twist of Modern Australian flavours. It was my friend, Clara who recommended and chose to dine at Nine Fine Food to celebrate her 21st. So just like my previous post, I have invited a few guest writers to be a part of this post. For our dinner, we decided to order the TokuToku (3 course) set menu ($53 pp). We were also given a few … Continue reading Nine Fine Food

Blu Grill

It was a Thursday night and we decided to go out for dinner as dad has just arrived in Perth. We head to Blu Grill, which was very close to home. No need for a parking ticket or to do the rounds to find parking as there are plenty of parking spaces available. The restaurant was a bit busy when we arrived considering it was a weekday. With no booking on a Thursday night, we were able to get a table in the restaurant with a 5 minute wait. How awesome is that or maybe we were just lucky! (I … Continue reading Blu Grill

Bada Bing

After church, my family and I decided to go somewhere closer to home for the convenience of finding parking. So, we went to Bada Bing Cafe in our suburb where we often go for coffee and cake. Bada Bing is situated in the heart of Woodlands facing the picturesque Lake Jackadder. When we arrived, the restaurant was quite full but we were told that a few of the customers were about to finish and we could get a table in 15 to 20 minutes . My advice to you is to make a booking for dinner just to be safe. … Continue reading Bada Bing

Tuck Shop

Perth is famous for cafes and coffee shops which serves breakfast and lunch. And now, brunch is currently trending in Perth. While doing my research on which restaurants are worth going on Urbanspoon, I stumbled upon the Tuck Shop which has a great rating (93% likes it!) and is currently on the Talk of the Town list. When we arrived for brunch, the restaurant was quite full and I had to put my name down on a waiting list. We didn’t wait that long to be seated at our tables and our waitperson came and took our orders. Overall, the … Continue reading Tuck Shop

The Wild Duck

Have passed by this place several times on my way to uni and back. As I finish uni late on that day, we decided to give The Wild Duck Restaurant a try for dinner. Apparently Wild Duck was operating in Albany for 5 years and have recently relocated to Perth in November last year. When we first entered the restaurant, we were greeted by a friendly smile and were taken to our table. The overall setting of this restaurant is really warm and cosy. It is also not too noisy which makes it perfect for catching up with friends, business … Continue reading The Wild Duck
