Chez Dre

After our early morning adventure to Brighton Beach and an hour’s walk from Southern Cross Train Station, we arrived just at lunch time for our food adventure at Chez Dre. Tucked away in one of South Melbourne’s laneway is home to patisserie and cafe, Chez Dre, offering French-inspired sweets and savoury delights, pastries and a great selection of petits gateaux. I had the Eggs Royale ($18.50) which consists of smoked salmon, tobiko, yuzu-miso hollandaise and poached eggs on sourdough. The eggs were poached to perfection with orange liquid full of goodness oozing out from the eggs. Apart from the eggs, … Continue reading Chez Dre

Pizzaca

I realised that there are quite a few cafes around the Scarborough or Doubleview area, which is close to home.  After finishing a BodyPump class on a Friday morning, Matt and I decided to head to Pizzaca for brunch. Pizzaca is a small cafe located along Gildercliffe Street in Scarborough with seatings both outside and inside. As I had to work later in the afternoon until 9pm, I went for the Pizzaca Big Breakky ($22.50) and Matt, being the “healthier” other half had the Turkey, Brie, Avocado, Spinach and Cream Cheese ($10.50) sandwich. The Big Breakky was really BIG. It … Continue reading Pizzaca

Revisiting Mrs S

After our spontaneous trip to Swan Valley without making a booking for Father’s Day, our lucky last alternative was Mrs S. I have been to Mrs S before and it has been a while since my last visit. We arrived just after the peak lunch hour and managed to score ourselves a table. YAY! What I have noticed was that Mrs S has a Brunch menu until 3pm which is awesome and definitely leaves you with plenty of choices to choose from. The menu has also changed a bit since my last visit but that’s alright, it’s always good to … Continue reading Revisiting Mrs S

Architects and Heroes

From Instagram, Facebook to Urbanspoon reviews, Architects and Heroes have been gaining popularity for their food, coffee and cakes. Since it’s opening a few months back, this local cafe in Subiaco is currently the talk of the town.  If you are a coffee aficionado, I highly recommend you to check out Architects and Heroes. We arrived early at Architects and Heroes for brunch (I do hear that it can be quite crowded as the cafe is compact). We were given a seasonal menu and an all day menu to choose from. It’s really great to see cafes doing seasonal menus to … Continue reading Architects and Heroes

Chapter 88

Ciao Italia is a household name to many in Perth and a local institution for Italian cuisine. The end of last year marks Ciao Italia’s new venture, Chapter 88, strategically located at Broadway Shopping Centre, near UWA. And no, this is not like Ciao Italia in South Perth. Chapter 88 shouts modern, casual and contemporary, serving up breakfast and lunch favourites. From hearing about Chapter 88, I have always wanted to give it a shot since it was so close to uni and it was decided that Chapter 88 would be a perfect place to catch up with the girls … Continue reading Chapter 88

Beaufort Street Merchant

After finishing a nice BodyBalance workout, I decided to head out for brunch with my childhood friend, Jess. We have been on many dinners with both of our families together but this was the first time that both of us actually went out for brunch. Initially, Plan A was Smuggled Seeds for breakfast. Arrived at 10.30 am at Smuggled Seeds and found out that kitchen had closed early due to a faulty stove. Plan B was to head to Mount Lawley, the closest to Leederville and in the end we decided to give Beaufort Street Merchant a try. On a … Continue reading Beaufort Street Merchant

Smuggled Seeds Espresso

Smuggled Seeds Espresso has been on my wishlist for a while. I have actually been to Smuggled Seeds twice but have unfortunately missed out on their breakfast. First time I arrived at 11.30 am on a weekday and missed out on food as kitchen closes at 11am. Second visit, my friend and I arrived at 10.30 am after BodyBalance and found out that the food service has stopped because of a faulty stove in a kitchen. Finally, I was lucky at my third visit and we managed to sit down, have a nice cup of coffee and food at Smuggled … Continue reading Smuggled Seeds Espresso

Little Sisto

Little Sisto is one hidden gem located in the middle of the Doubleview suburb. As Gen and I lived in Woodlands, it was really good to see a nice little cafe close to home which was perfect for our catch up over brunch. We arrived just in time for brunch (Brunch is served from 11.30am-3pm) on a weekday and the cafe was not too busy. Little Sisto also has an alfresco dining area, which is currently pending approval to operate from the council of City of Stirling.  It would also be nice to dine and sip a coffee outside under the … Continue reading Little Sisto
