Revisiting Mrs S

After our spontaneous trip to Swan Valley without making a booking for Father’s Day, our lucky last alternative was Mrs S. I have been to Mrs S before and it has been a while since my last visit. We arrived just after the peak lunch hour and managed to score ourselves a table. YAY!

What I have noticed was that Mrs S has a Brunch menu until 3pm which is awesome and definitely leaves you with plenty of choices to choose from. The menu has also changed a bit since my last visit but that’s alright, it’s always good to have a changing menu for something different πŸ™‚

I had the Smoked Pork Hock, Chorizo and Potato Hash with fried egg, quince and aioli ($20.50). As they ran out of quince, they had to replace it with cauliflower. The Pork Hock was smoked perfectly and was cooked well to tender which complements the chorizo and potato hash well. There were definitely a nice hint of flavours, which made it delicious. Β Oh and the cauliflower still blends in well with the other elements too!

Β Dad had the Coconut Braised Beef Short Ribs ($25) with sweet potato puree, nam jim, peanuts and herb salad. I had a taste test of dad’s dish. The beef short ribs came off the bone easily and was very tender and juicy. I loved how the flavours of this dish marries well with each other and I can definitely taste the Thai flavours coming through in this dish too. It’s like East meets West. Superb.

Mum had The Manwich ($16) with pulled pork, beetroot pickle, cucumber, aioli and ciabatta roll. Mum’s Manwich was really a Manwich. It was generous in portion and the pulled pork was soft and tender with fresh flavours from the beetroot pickle, cucumber and aioli. The ciabatta roll was also soft, fluffy with a nice crunch on the outside.

To finish off, we had coffee and shared a Chocolate Flourless Cake ($7). The chocolate flourless cake is probably one of the best I have had so far. With a drizzle of salted caramel, it was smooth and soft with the right amount of sweetness, oh, I was taken to chocolate heaven! With each spoonful of the chocolate flourless cake, I ate my way through it without feeling sick as it wasn’t super sweet.

After a very satisfying brunch, we left Mrs S happy and satisfied. With good service, food and coffee, Mrs S will still remain our family favourite which never fails to disappoint! Thank you Mrs S, you have saved the day! πŸ™‚
