Santi’s

As I usually have my practicum at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital on Tuesdays, I decided to catch up with two of my uni friends, Clara and Tracy for lunch as I have not seen them in a while. So we decided to catch up at Santi’s which is not very far from QEII Medical Centre and the hospital. Being in the area brings back many fond memories of my undergraduate degree where I used to walk along Hampden road with my course mates for lunch before a lab or to hang out after a class. There are many eateries along … Continue reading Santi’s

V Burger Bar

Just after the Fitness Show last weekend, mum and I decided to head to V Burger Bar for lunch at Floreat Forum so we could use our Entertainment Book voucher. I have heard many good reviews of V Burger Bar and thought that it was perfect to give it a try. There are two V Burger Bar restaurants in Perth. One in Victoria Park and another one close to my place which is in Floreat Forum. It was a bit hard to decide what to order as the choices on the menu looks yummy! At the end, I settled for … Continue reading V Burger Bar

Piccolo’s Corner

After finishing a great BodyCombat workout, I decide to head to Piccolo’s Corner for brunch and coffee with mum and dad. As I am always doing “research” on Urbanspoon, I stumbled upon Piccolo’s Corner which had good reviews from the Urbanspoon community. Piccolo’s Corner is tucked in the suburb of West Leederville and is only a few minutes from Subiaco and Wembley. The cafe was not busy when we arrived probably because the Footy Finals were on and most people were at home watching the game. When we bumped into one of mum’s gym friend there, she told us that … Continue reading Piccolo’s Corner

Weir’s Kitchen

Tucked away in a corner of the Broadway shops, lies Weir’s Kitchen, located next to Weir’s Butchers. Weir’s Kitchen is cosy, homely and a great cafe to get away from the peak hour lunch crowd in Broadway. As I was finished with my classes just before lunchtime, Mum and I decided head to Weir’s Kitchen to have lunch since we were around the area. I ordered the Lamb Shanks with Mashed Potato ($13.95) and mum ordered the Satay Beef pie ($11.95). The Lamb Shanks were very delicious and the meat came off the bone easily as it must have been … Continue reading Weir’s Kitchen

Ootong & Lincoln

Woke up to a late Saturday morning and decided to take a drive down to Fremantle for brunch at Ootong & Lincoln with the family. I have heard many great reviews of Ootong & Lincoln from word of mouth to Urbanspoon reviews. When we arrived, the cafe was quite full but we managed to find ourselves a table. Ootong & Lincoln is a hip and quirky cafe with its mismatched vintage furniture and interior. For the drinks, I ordered the Green Smoothie ($9.50) consisting of apple, lemon, green leaves, kiwi fruit, banana and chia seeds. It was a very yummy … Continue reading Ootong & Lincoln

Mrs. S

Another cafe famous for its breakfast, brunch and lunch in Perth is Mrs. S which is located in the heart of Maylands. I have always wanted to give Mrs. S a try from hearing good reviews from friends and Urbanspoon. So, what’s my verdict of Mrs. S? It is very good and definitely worth a visit because the food, service and atmosphere is top notch. The cafe was full when we arrived but we were told that it was only a 5-10 minute wait for a table which was bearable. While waiting for our table, we also had a look at … Continue reading Mrs. S

Toast

Toast became a backup plan as we were meant to visit The Good Food and Wine Show at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre. Unfortunately, the parking at the Convention Centre was full and it became too much of a hassle to search for parking nearby. We changed our plans and decided to go for brunch at Toast instead. This is my first time at Toast. I have heard many great reviews of Toast from friends and Urbanspoon. My review of Toast? It is definitely worth a try and I highly recommend it. Not only for their food and service but … Continue reading Toast

Sayers Sister

As I have mentioned before, Perth is famous for it’s breakfast, brunch or lunch cafes and restaurants. This time I catch up with two friends, Gen and Matt whom I have not seen for a while. We decided to catch up for breakfast at Sayers Sister. Sayers Sister is owned and operated by the same owner of Sayers in Leederville. When we arrived, the restaurant was quite full. (There seems to be a lot of early risers in Perth!) We were given a choice to wait for a proper table or sit at the counter. As hungry and excited as … Continue reading Sayers Sister

Tuck Shop

Perth is famous for cafes and coffee shops which serves breakfast and lunch. And now, brunch is currently trending in Perth. While doing my research on which restaurants are worth going on Urbanspoon, I stumbled upon the Tuck Shop which has a great rating (93% likes it!) and is currently on the Talk of the Town list. When we arrived for brunch, the restaurant was quite full and I had to put my name down on a waiting list. We didn’t wait that long to be seated at our tables and our waitperson came and took our orders. Overall, the … Continue reading Tuck Shop

Of Malaysian Hawker food and Vietnamese stuffed chicken wings

I have been asked very often why do I always go to Subiaco Station Street Markets for lunch. The answer is simple. It’s because there is a large variety of food there whether it’s Mexican, Malaysian, Vietnamese, German, Greek and so on. Most weekends and some Sundays after work, my family and I will always be at Subiaco Markets for lunch and to buy fruits and vegetables. Before dad heads for golf and I go for my afternoon lecture, we decided to have lunch at the markets. As usual, dad ordered the deep fried stuffed chicken wings for our entree … Continue reading Of Malaysian Hawker food and Vietnamese stuffed chicken wings
