Roast and Red at The Brisbane Hotel

You can never go wrong with having a hearty roast for dinner. Recently, I received an invitation to attend The Brisbane Hotel’s Roast and Red night and thought that it would be perfect for Matt and I to go out for our very first dinner together. So, on a cold, chilly wintry Tuesday night, Matt and I set off to have our roast dinner at The Brisbane. This was also our first time dining at The Brisbane too. Roast & Red is held every Tuesday night during winter at The Brisbane with a generous serving of a traditional pub roast. … Continue reading Roast and Red at The Brisbane Hotel

2014 Truffle Kerfuffle Launch at Bib and Tucker

In Western Australia, we are blessed that the southern hemisphere is the largest producing region of truffles. Western Australia is also currently the biggest producer of truffles outside of Europe with truffles in Manjimup comparable to taste and texture of European truffles. So…what are truffles? Truffles are exotic, uniquely flavoured, gourmet mushrooms that grow on the roots of hazelnut and oak trees inoculated with imported truffle spores from France. Truffles can be found centimetres under the ground. From the title of the event, Truffle Kerfuffle is an event dedicated purely to truffles and will be held on the weekend of 27-29 … Continue reading 2014 Truffle Kerfuffle Launch at Bib and Tucker

Canvas Cafe

Cold, rainy and windy is what we usually associate with winter weather. What food comes to mind when you think of winter? Possibly something to keep you warm and contented…am I right? Located in the heart of the Fremantle Arts Centre is Canvas Cafe. Inside Canvas lies a courtyard which looks like a secret garden. There’s also seating inside too. As the seating inside was reserved when we were there, we had to sit alfresco although the weather was rainy and windy! Luckily, there were large umbrellas on top of our heads, which protected us from getting soaked. Canvas serves … Continue reading Canvas Cafe

Typika Artisan Roasters

Finally, I can say now that I have been to Typika Artisan Roasters. Typika has been the talk of town and is a popular breakfast, brunch, lunch and coffee spot. Typika houses a glassed-in coffee roastery where all the roasting action takes place along with a warehouse for storing green beans, roasted coffee and wholesale products. I was there during the peak lunch hour and was lucky to get a table for the 3 of us. Despite how busy it was, Typika has a positive vibe. So, I asked our waitperson what was his recommendation and he recommended the Caramelised … Continue reading Typika Artisan Roasters

Yep, it’s a cafe that’s not hard to miss!   The decor is bright and lovely which gives a welcoming and friendly ambience – a great place to catch up over coffee and have some of their pastries or cookies available. I decided to order a Latte … Continue reading The Pulp Cafe

Dusit Thai

The multi award winning Dusit Thai has been an institution, offering authentic and traditional Thai food in Perth since 1988. Take a look around Dusit Thai and you will find yourself in Thailand with the ambience and opulence of Thai decor and interior. The restaurant is also very spacious and there are plenty of tables available to accommodate diners walking in. I was there on a Saturday and didn’t have to make a booking (I do recommend a booking if it’s a large group). We had a Small Seafood Tom Yum Soup ($12.50) to start off with. Tom Yum is … Continue reading Dusit Thai
