Uncle Gino’s Pizzeria Restaurant

Established for over 25 years, Uncle Gino’s is famous for their Italian pizzas, pastas and seafood and has been a local institution and house hold name around Scarborough. Whether it is dine in or takeaway, Uncle Gino’s caters for all palates and tastes with their variety of different pizzas and their endless combinations. Beside pizzas and pastas, Uncle Gino’s is also famous for their chili mussels with a large serve weighing around 2kgs, which can feed two people! Yes, I have heard that their chili mussels are legendary. Note to self: To try the Chili Mussels at Uncle Gino’s one day.

As it was a Friday night, we decided to do a takeaway from Uncle Gino’s and order our food online from Menulog, which is No.1 for online takeaway. This is my first time using Menulog and it is actually very easy to use. All you have to do is type in your suburb and postcode in the search bar and you will find a list of restaurants nearby that deliver right to your doorstep. I ordered my meal from the Woodlands Food Delivery and Takeaway  and Woodlands Pizza Delivery and Takeaway.

After placing my order on Menulog around 5.30pm, I received an SMS confirmation of my order and an estimated time of delivery which was 6.21 pm. At 6.15pm, my doorbell rang, I opened the door and there was the deliveryman with my dinner at my doorstep 6 minutes before the estimated delivery time. How convenient and efficient is that! Oh, and our meal arrived warm too!

We ordered Meal Deal 1 ($29.50) which consists of one large pizza, one garlic bread and a 1.25L drink and ordered a small grilled squid ($15) from Uncle Gino’s. Delivery was $2 and there was a 25% discount for your first order online. Uncle Gino’s offers a variety of pizzas to choose from but in the end, we chose the Uncle Gino’s Special Pizza which consists of tomato, cheese, ham, capsicum, olives, pepperoni, mushrooms and prawns.

The Uncle Gino’s Special Pizza was large enough for mum and I to share with leftovers for lunch the next day. It was delicious and the ingredients complements each other well. The grilled squid was fresh and tasty and came with a side serve of chips. Although we ordered a small serve of grilled squid, the amount given to us was still quite generous  for a small serve. The garlic bread was baked to perfection. It was crusty on the outside and soft in the inside. The garlic bread was full of flavour with a lingering savoury taste of garlic. It made a great side dish to the pizza! YUM!

Overall, I was very happy and satisfied with our meals which have been ordered from Uncle Gino’s through Menulog. Can’t think of what to cook? Feeling lazy to take the drive down to your local takeaway store? If you are ever faced with these dilemmas, go and give Menulog a try. There are plenty of choices to choose from. It’s only one click away.

Disclaimer: I was given a $30 Menulog voucher by Menulog for my order to review both Uncle Gino’s and the Menulog service for this post.
