The Attic

And so, the Fremantle Adventures begin again. Yes, there is a lot to explore in Fremantle. Along Bannister St, lies a little cafe called “The Attic”. Past the counter where you place your order and up the stairs, you will find yourself at the attic, an eating area where everyone is enjoying their food, coffee or cake and having a great time catching up. From the deli counter to the brunch options, it was hard to decide what to order because everything looks and sounds good! I had the Cinnamon Mushrooms, Cummin Seed, White Cheese, Crispy Egg and Sourdough ($18) … Continue reading The Attic

Pearfect Pantry

Situated in the middle of the Wembley suburb along Herdsman Parade lies a little cafe behind a Laundromat called “Pearfect Pantry”. Yes, it is a hidden gem and it is quite easy to miss it. A handy hint – keep your eyes out for the Laundromat and you should be able to see signs pointing you to the right direction. When Matt and I arrived at Pearfect Pantry, we realised that we were half an hour late and had missed out on breakfast. But that’s ok, because we were still keen on lunch. I had the 5 Spice Crispy Pork … Continue reading Pearfect Pantry

Basically Bak Kut Teh consists of meaty  pork ribs simmered in a complex broth of herbs and spices for hours. Although it is known as “meat bone tea” after translation, you won’t be able to find any tea leaves in it! Just herbs, spices, pork ribs and mushrooms, that’s it! Bak Kut Teh can be found in every corner in Malaysia, whether you are at a shopping centre, hawker stalls or restaurants. The restaurant which my family and I often frequent for Bak … Continue reading Malaysian Food Adventures #17: Bak Kut Teh

Malaysian Food Adventures #13: Dim Sum at Tao

Usually on the first day of Chinese New Year, families will have a feast. This year, my family decided to eat out instead. As most Chinese restaurants are closed on the first day of the Chinese New Year, we decided to celebrate the new year by having a Dim Sum brunch at Tao at InterContinental Hotel, KL. (We assume restaurants would remain open in hotels during the New Year. Thank goodness for that!) A few years ago, Nikko Hotel was turned to InterContinental and Nikko Hotel’s Toh Lee was turned into Tao. When we were still living in Malaysia, my … Continue reading Malaysian Food Adventures #13: Dim Sum at Tao
