Tra Vinh

As I am back for another semester of uni, we decided to go for lunch at Tra Vinh on Brisbane Street before my lecture at 4pm. Tra Vinh remains as one of my favourite Vietnamese restaurants because they serve authentic Vietnamese dishes which reminds me of the food I had in Ho Chi Minh City three years ago. Tra Vinh offers a variety of noodle soup and rice dishes at a reasonable price. It has been a while since I last dined at the Brisbane Street restaurant and recently they have opened another branch on William Street. The interior at … Continue reading Tra Vinh

Is Donburi and Meet Fresh

As I had a Sunday off from work, I decided to catch up with a few of my uni friends just before the semester begins. We decided to go to Is Donburi for lunch and this was my second time here. Is Donburi serves quality and value for money Japanese food from sushi, donburi to bento. When I arrived, Is Donburi was quite full as it was during the peak lunch hour but luckily my friend, Ernie was the first to arrive and got us a table. When everyone arrived, we had some time to settle down, catch up and … Continue reading Is Donburi and Meet Fresh

Bistro Guillaume

As it was my mum’s birthday, we decided to give Bistro Guillaume a try. The setting in Bistro Guillaume is both classy and cosy with views overlooking the Crown Perth’s luxurious resort-style swimming pool. The lime green highlights gives the restaurant a fresh look and their staff, dressed in Lacoste were professional and attentive.  (The French waiter who served us was very good looking!) From tables filled with businessmen to families, Bistro Guillaume caters for all. When we arrived, the menus were already placed on our table. From my research done prior to arriving at Bistro Guillaume, I knew what … Continue reading Bistro Guillaume

Mrs. S

Another cafe famous for its breakfast, brunch and lunch in Perth is Mrs. S which is located in the heart of Maylands. I have always wanted to give Mrs. S a try from hearing good reviews from friends and Urbanspoon. So, what’s my verdict of Mrs. S? It is very good and definitely worth a visit because the food, service and atmosphere is top notch. The cafe was full when we arrived but we were told that it was only a 5-10 minute wait for a table which was bearable. While waiting for our table, we also had a look at … Continue reading Mrs. S

Toast

Toast became a backup plan as we were meant to visit The Good Food and Wine Show at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre. Unfortunately, the parking at the Convention Centre was full and it became too much of a hassle to search for parking nearby. We changed our plans and decided to go for brunch at Toast instead. This is my first time at Toast. I have heard many great reviews of Toast from friends and Urbanspoon. My review of Toast? It is definitely worth a try and I highly recommend it. Not only for their food and service but … Continue reading Toast

Sayers Sister

As I have mentioned before, Perth is famous for it’s breakfast, brunch or lunch cafes and restaurants. This time I catch up with two friends, Gen and Matt whom I have not seen for a while. We decided to catch up for breakfast at Sayers Sister. Sayers Sister is owned and operated by the same owner of Sayers in Leederville. When we arrived, the restaurant was quite full. (There seems to be a lot of early risers in Perth!) We were given a choice to wait for a proper table or sit at the counter. As hungry and excited as … Continue reading Sayers Sister

Bada Bing

After church, my family and I decided to go somewhere closer to home for the convenience of finding parking. So, we went to Bada Bing Cafe in our suburb where we often go for coffee and cake. Bada Bing is situated in the heart of Woodlands facing the picturesque Lake Jackadder. When we arrived, the restaurant was quite full but we were told that a few of the customers were about to finish and we could get a table in 15 to 20 minutes . My advice to you is to make a booking for dinner just to be safe. … Continue reading Bada Bing

The Merrywell

The Merrywell is the place you would want to be for dude food. For our dinner before the Jersey Boys musical, we decided to give The Merrywell a try. The restaurant was quite busy for a weekday, most probably because of the Jersey Boys musical. After finding a table for ourselves, we placed our orders immediately as we have done our research the night before on what to have. The service was very quick and efficient. Not long after placing our orders, the food arrived. We shared and ordered the Lollipop Buffalo Wings ($21), Firey Mojito Lamb Chops ($34) and … Continue reading The Merrywell

The Prophet Lebanese Cafe

I am not sure why but all of a sudden I was craving for Lebanese food. So I was searching for a Lebanese restaurant in Perth and stumbled upon the Prophet Lebanese Cafe in Victoria Park. We arrived at The Prophet early on a cold Friday night and were lucky to get a table without making a booking. I would recommend making a booking at the Prophet to be safe as the restaurant is quite small and it can get busy, especially on weekends. To start off our dinner, the waitress brought out our complimentary lebanese bread, labneh (yoghurt) dip … Continue reading The Prophet Lebanese Cafe

A meat-y dinner at Lapa Brazilian

After several months from my last visit and several calls to get a booking, I was lucky to call up a few days before and reserve a table at Lapa Brazilian Barbeque in Subiaco. It is advisable to book at least two weeks ahead. You can also try to ask which days they have tables available which might make it easier if you are flexible with time and day. I would recommend booking at 6pm so you will be able to take your time and eat. What exactly is Lapa? Lapa is actually a famous neighbourhood in Rio de Janiero, … Continue reading A meat-y dinner at Lapa Brazilian
