Satsuki

Located at the corner of Subiaco Square on top of the train station lies Satsuki, the sister restaurant of Ha-Lu at Mount Hawthorn. With quality, beauty and attention to detail, Satsuki provides a unique and authentic Japanese dining experience. In Japanese dining, social interaction is often encouraged around the table by having a number of dishes to be ordered and shared. Sharing is caring. To start off, we had the Sashimi seafood and gari tempura salad ($14.80) which consists of fresh sashimi seafood on a bed of salad leaves served with pickled ginger tempura and soy dressing. The salad was … Continue reading Satsuki

1982 Espresso

Looking for breakfast on New Years Day in Perth is no easy task. It is hard to tell which places are open and which are closed over the festive season. As we drove along Rokeby Road in Subiaco after New Years Day, we noticed that 1982 Espresso was opened apart from Dome which was down the road. 1982 Espresso takes its home next to Regal Theatre, formerly the home of Brownhaus. As it was the first day of New Year’s, a hearty breakfast is needed to kickstart 2014. We had the Full Breakfast ($21.50) which consists of fried eggs, hash brown, baked … Continue reading 1982 Espresso

Anghiti

Anghiti is one place we have been regular customers of, since we arrived in Perth. Situated strategically at the suburb of Innaloo, near Event Cinemas and Westfield Innaloo Shopping Centre, Anghiti serves up authentic Indian dishes. It has been popular among locals around the area too! We had the Tandoori Fish Tikka ($18.50), Butter Chicken ($25), Aloo Baigan (Brinjal and potato prepared with exotic herbs and spices) ($19) and Goat Curry ($28). Packed with spice, herbs and everything nice, each of the curries were full of flavour and delicious. We were very satisfied. It’s a feast! To complement the curries … Continue reading Anghiti

Two Rubens Espresso

Fremantle is one place where one can have their very own foodie adventure. Food and coffee lies in every corner of Fremantle, where some of them are definitely worth a visit. As we were walking along the streets in Fremantle, we stumbled upon Two Rubens Espresso. To start off, I had the Pantera Rosa juice ($7.50) which is a mix of watermelon, strawberry, apple mint and lemon. It was a very nice and refreshing drink to start off the day. Pantera Rosa Juice Dad had the Rubens ($15) which consists of either poached or scrambled eggs, short cut bacon, avocado, … Continue reading Two Rubens Espresso

Shige

During this time of the year, it is quite a challenge to find which restaurants are opened. (You won’t want to turn up unexpectedly to your favourite restaurant and find it closed! So be sure to check!) I stumbled upon Shige along Plain Street and thought that it would be good to give Shige a try, which was luckily opened on Christmas Eve. To start off, we had the Ikateri ($19.80), Agedashi Tofu ($9) and Gyu Tataki ($19.50). The Ikateri is a dish consisting of squid in sake soy sauce. The squid was fresh and the sake soy sauce complemented … Continue reading Shige

Cocktail and Food Masterclass by The Classroom

For the second day of Eat Drink Blog 2013, delegates were split to their preferred Sunday Activity of their choice. I went to the Cocktail and Food Masterclass which was held at The Classroom. The two other Sunday activities were Mastering French Pastries with Emmanuel Mollois and the Crown Mushroom Farm Tour and Cooking Challenge. I was very excited as I have always wanted to go to The Classroom. I really liked the interior of The Classroom and thought that it was genius to have school bags hanging on the walls, a shelf with books, encyclopedias etc basically, what you … Continue reading Cocktail and Food Masterclass by The Classroom

Dosukoi

From hearing about the famous ramen in Fremantle Markets, I have always wanted to try Dosukoi. Fortunately, there was another Dosukoi ramen store which has just been opened recently at Allendale Square in Perth CBD. (much nearer to home!) It’s a manga lovers heaven as you are greeted by shelves of manga while slurping your ramen noodles. It also feels like as if you are in one of those small restaurants in the middle of Tokyo! As I grew up reading manga and watching anime, I was able to spot a few of the manga which I am familiar with on … Continue reading Dosukoi

Ingredient Tree

Just after a CxWorx and BodyAttack class back to back, Matt and I decided to head to Ingredient Tree for brunch. Quite similar to Pimlott & Strand, Ingredient Tree is not only a cafe. Ingredient Tree is also a one stop shop for sourcing your ingredients. Again, feel free to have a browse after having breakfast or lunch at the cafe. Oh, and they do sell Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream too! (I think Ingredient Tree was one of the first stores in Perth to stock Ben and Jerry’s actually) I had the French Toast ($17) which was served with … Continue reading Ingredient Tree

Sushia Izakaya and Bar

Sushia Izakaya and Bar was the latest installment at Brookfield Place this year and was new to the Perth dining scene. From hearing good reviews on Urbanspoon and through word of mouth, I have always wanted to give this place a try. So, I’ve organised a dinner to catch up with two of my friends who I have not seen in a while at Sushia. To start off, we had some edamame ($7) to share. The edamame was cooked perfectly with a hint of salt giving it a fresh, salty flavour. You can’t go wrong with ordering edamame as your … Continue reading Sushia Izakaya and Bar

Pimlott & Strand

Generous servings. Good food. Who would not want more than that? Located in North Perth Plaza along Fitzgerald street lies Pimlott & Strand (You won’t be able to miss it! It’s just opposite Chemist Warehouse) Pimlott & Strand is not only a cafe offering good food. It also offers an array of gourmet artisanal-style produce for you to purchase. Feel free to take a browse while waiting for your food or coffee or perhaps if you need to stock up on an ingredient or produce for your pantry! I had the Breakfast Insalata ($16.50) which consists of baked ciabatta croutons, … Continue reading Pimlott & Strand
