The Gaya

What do you get when you have a fusion of korean with a western influence? The answer lies in The Gaya. I was invited to try a newly opened restaurant in Applecross called The Gaya by chef and owner, Leo. This was also my very first invitation from a restaurant to review their food too. The Gaya has a simple, clean cut decor and I really liked the atmosphere. It is perfect for any occasion, whether it is to catch up with friends, go on a date or to even have a casual dinner with the family. The setting is … Continue reading The Gaya

Guten Tag! What do you do when you have family friends from overseas visiting Perth? Well, we take them around iconic places in Perth and of course, we are not forgetting our glorious Perth food! We decided to take our family friends who flew over from Malaysia to Swan Valley. Swan Valley is located 30 minutes from Perth CBD and is very popular for its food scene and wineries. When you visit Swan Valley, your tastebuds will be in for a treat. We arrived at Swan Valley for lunch and decided to dine at Elmar’s in the Valley, a german … Continue reading Elmar’s in the Valley

Sado Island

On a warm Wednesday night, we decided to have dinner at Sado Island which is located in Claremont. This is my second visit to Sado Island after my first visit with my friends. But this time, I decided to bring mum and dad along. We arrived at the restaurant a bit late which was just after 8pm. There were only two tables occupied and it seems to be very quiet on a Wednesday night. Maybe most of the customers may have had their dinner earlier. For the Entree, we had the Kani Maki (Spider Roll) ($17) and Agedashi Tofu ($12). … Continue reading Sado Island

Hunter’s Lodge

I was searching for Fine Dining Restaurants one day on Urbanspoon (doing “research” as usual) and I stumbled upon this restaurant with a very good rating which was Hunter’s Lodge. Hunter’s Lodge is located in Wungong which is close to Armadale. I, myself have not even heard of a suburb called Wungong but nevertheless, for good food, one must be willing to travel the distance. My family and I decided to have dinner at Hunter’s Lodge just for something different and outside the vicinity of Perth City. It was a 45 minute drive to Hunter’s Lodge and I can say … Continue reading Hunter’s Lodge

Hoi Bo Chinese Restaurant

Chicken Rice has been one of the many comfort foods on my list for a very long time. Sometimes, I tend to become homesick and miss a few of my favourite foods in Malaysia. One of them is chicken rice.  As I was doing research on “Best Chicken Rice in Perth” on google , I stumbled upon Hoi Bo Chinese Restaurant. From the reviews on Urbanspoon, there were many great reviews and most of them were associated with the chicken rice. Could this be one of Perth’s best chicken rice on the north side of the river? I think so … Continue reading Hoi Bo Chinese Restaurant

Hippo Creek African Grill

From its days as a small restaurant located in Scarborough to its opening in Breakwater at Hilarys, my family and I have patronized Hippo Creek for 7 years since its location at Scarborough. Now, Hippo Creek has opened at two locations. One in Subiaco and another one at Waterford. Hippo Creek is still famous for its steak and ribs especially the 2kg Rump Challenge! (It used to be 1kg, but recently, it seems like the bar has been raised to 2kg!) I dare you to take up the challenge if you have one monster of an appetite. As usual for … Continue reading Hippo Creek African Grill

Nine Fine Food

Konnichiwa and G’day mate!  What do you get when you get a fusion of Japanese and Modern Australian flavours? The result lies in Nine Fine Food. Nine Fine Food offers fine, quality, modern Japanese with a twist of Modern Australian flavours. It was my friend, Clara who recommended and chose to dine at Nine Fine Food to celebrate her 21st. So just like my previous post, I have invited a few guest writers to be a part of this post. For our dinner, we decided to order the TokuToku (3 course) set menu ($53 pp). We were also given a few … Continue reading Nine Fine Food

Santi’s

As I usually have my practicum at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital on Tuesdays, I decided to catch up with two of my uni friends, Clara and Tracy for lunch as I have not seen them in a while. So we decided to catch up at Santi’s which is not very far from QEII Medical Centre and the hospital. Being in the area brings back many fond memories of my undergraduate degree where I used to walk along Hampden road with my course mates for lunch before a lab or to hang out after a class. There are many eateries along … Continue reading Santi’s

V Burger Bar

Just after the Fitness Show last weekend, mum and I decided to head to V Burger Bar for lunch at Floreat Forum so we could use our Entertainment Book voucher. I have heard many good reviews of V Burger Bar and thought that it was perfect to give it a try. There are two V Burger Bar restaurants in Perth. One in Victoria Park and another one close to my place which is in Floreat Forum. It was a bit hard to decide what to order as the choices on the menu looks yummy! At the end, I settled for … Continue reading V Burger Bar

Palsaik Namoo Korean BBQ

For all pork lovers, rejoice! You are in for a treat for the 8 flavour pork belly. After hearing about Palsaik Namoo Korean BBQ from Urbanspoon and as a recommendation from my friend who has tried the 8 flavour pork belly in Melbourne, we decided to head to there for dinner with my family friends. The restaurant was full when we arrived. Apparently if the restaurant is full, you have to write your name down on the waiting list in front of the counter and take a number and wait for it to be called. As my friend’s mum was … Continue reading Palsaik Namoo Korean BBQ
