Rumours

After reading some reviews on Urbanspoon and Dimmi, my parents and I decided to give Rumours a try for dinner after church as it was only 10 minutes away from home. Coincidentally, there was also a voucher for Rumours in the current Entertainment Book which allows you to get 25% off the total bill. Rumours is located in the suburb of Tuart Hill, on the corner of Wanneroo Road and Cape Street. The restaurant is quite large and from table to table, it was quite spacious. Rumours also has a really nice and lovely ambience with live piano music playing … Continue reading Rumours

Architects and Heroes

From Instagram, Facebook to Urbanspoon reviews, Architects and Heroes have been gaining popularity for their food, coffee and cakes. Since it’s opening a few months back, this local cafe in Subiaco is currently the talk of the town.  If you are a coffee aficionado, I highly recommend you to check out Architects and Heroes. We arrived early at Architects and Heroes for brunch (I do hear that it can be quite crowded as the cafe is compact). We were given a seasonal menu and an all day menu to choose from. It’s really great to see cafes doing seasonal menus to … Continue reading Architects and Heroes

Chapter 88

Ciao Italia is a household name to many in Perth and a local institution for Italian cuisine. The end of last year marks Ciao Italia’s new venture, Chapter 88, strategically located at Broadway Shopping Centre, near UWA. And no, this is not like Ciao Italia in South Perth. Chapter 88 shouts modern, casual and contemporary, serving up breakfast and lunch favourites. From hearing about Chapter 88, I have always wanted to give it a shot since it was so close to uni and it was decided that Chapter 88 would be a perfect place to catch up with the girls … Continue reading Chapter 88

Sandalford Estate Restaurant

As you drive into Sandalford Estate, you are greeted by a majestic entrance and welcomed by lush greens and vineyards. Sandalford Estate is located along West Swan Road in the popular Swan Valley region. It is one of Western Australia’s oldest and largest privately owned wineries and was founded back in 1840. When you enter the restaurant, it feels like you’re stepping back in time. The restaurant features a rustic interior and a dining area outside, shaded by 125 year old vines with beautiful views of the vineyards and its surrounds. Perfect for blue skies and cool, sunny days. We … Continue reading Sandalford Estate Restaurant

Equateur

Located in the heart of Subiaco is Equateur. Equateur is a celebration of exotic cuisine from the Reunion Islands with influences from India, China, France, Madagascar and Africa under one roof. As mum’s birthday was approaching soon, I was lucky to book a table for dad, mum, Matt and I at Equateur. When we first arrived at Equateur, we were welcomed by a red carpet, followed by a red carpet service from the friendly and delightful owner, Mickael Maillot.  As we were there on a quiet Thursday evening, there were no other tables throughout the whole night apart for ours. I … Continue reading Equateur

Wicked Satays

Once in a while I get cravings for Malaysian food. So what am I craving for this time? I am craving for satays! It has been a while since my last trip back home and I must admit that it is hard to find a place serving authentic satays in Perth. After stumbling upon Wicked Satays on Instagram (Wicked Satays is a new addition to Victoria Park which has just been opened for business 4 weeks ago), my family and I decided to give Wicked Satays a try. We started off with a Beef Murtabak ($9). Murtabak is a wrapped … Continue reading Wicked Satays

Le Vietnam

Located along Barrack Street in the middle of Perth CBD near the shopping district, is Le Vietnam. Think Paris. Think Vietnam. Put it together and you have Le Vietnam – a Vietnamese French cafe. Yes, the interior and decoration speaks for itself too. When Le Vietnam first opened its doors to customers early last month, they were offering Free Original Banh Mi to customers from 11am-2pm. (Le Vietnam sells their Original Banh Mi for $6) Matt and I arrived at Le Vietnam on the day of the opening just after 1pm. Luckily, we did not have to queue long to … Continue reading Le Vietnam

Halo Espresso

Just before we dropped dad off to the airport, we decided to have brunch on the way. So a few places came to mind and in the end, we thought of going to South Perth to see what food they have to offer. On the way down to South Perth, I flipped through the Entertainment Book and discovered an Entertainment voucher for Halo Espresso. Without looking at the reviews on Urbanspoon, we decided to give Halo Espresso a try since we were in the area. We arrived at the peak lunch hour during a weekday and Halo Espresso was busy. … Continue reading Halo Espresso

Good Food and Wine Show 2014

A few weeks ago just before the Good Food and Wine Show, I received an invitation for a guest and I to attend a pre-show cooking class with My Kitchen Rules Season 2 winners Sammy and Bella as a part of Perth’s Good Food and Wine Show. When I saw the invitation, I received it with open arms and replied with a huge YES! Matt and I arrived at Perth Convention Centre bright and early at 8.30 am to attend the cooking class at 8.45 am. We learnt how to cook Seadas, a Sardinian breakfast from scratch. Seadas are a … Continue reading Good Food and Wine Show 2014
