A gorgeous Sunday at the Perth Upmarket

The Perth Upmarket is Perth’s premier market held every quarterly which brings together over 180 of Perth’s most talented artists, designers, craftsmen and gourmets. It is located on the beautiful grounds of The University of Western Australia’s Winthrop Hall with a gourmet section and a Junior Upmarket. From clothing, cupcakes, skincare, homewares to jewellery, you can find everything under one roof at The Perth Upmarket!

Last month, we attended Perth Upmarket’s winter market on a gorgeous sunny winter day. We were there just before lunchtime and the markets were already buzzing with good vibes. We were also given a tour around the Perth Upmarket and our foodie journey at the Perth Upmarket started at Turban Chopsticks.

Turban Chopsticks was born when founder, Mei who came from a foodie loving family wanted to give busy mum and dads, working professionals and enthusiastic home cooks a shortcut to cook authentic and beautiful home cooked Asian and Indian inspired meals. At the Upmarket, we were provided tasters of the Tropical Thai Coconut Rice and Thai Red Curry. It’s truly a delicious and heartwarming combination that will keep you warm this winter! Check out Turban Chopsticks’ extensive range of meal kits, curry pastes and little bites here.

Next up, we head over to Latasha’s Kitchen. At Latasha’s Kitchen, you can find a variety of products of concentrated pastes, condiments, chutneys and simmer sauces for you to make and share good food with family and friend. Plus, it does not matter if you are a newbie or professional cook. Latasha’s products are influenced by regional flavours from India, South East Asia, Australia and beyond. We tried the lamb shank curry with cauliflower rice and oh my, it was a mouthful burst of flavour. Yes, you can never go wrong with curries in winter! From tasting Latasha’s products, you can tell there’s lot of love and passion that Latasha has put in. Check out Latasha’s range of products here.

Next on the list was T Sisters Fresh Foods. T Sisters Fresh Foods is made up of Felicia and her two sisters along with Mama Hawker (remember Hawker’s Delight at Subi Station Markets?) to bring and share their passion of food.

To start off, we had the refreshing lychee and mint tea. We also had the pork belly bao, duck bao and dumplings. Think soft fluffy baos with tasty fillings of juicy pork belly and tender duck. The dumplings were also delightfully flavourful. This is why T Sisters are featured on The Urbanlist‘s Perth Best Bao list! Want to get your T Sisters fix? They are popping up on weekdays Mon-Fri 10.30am-3pm at The Colonnade, Shop 8, 388 Hay Street, Subiaco.

Our foodie adventure took us from the taste of Asia to Italy where we had the opportunity to savour traditional Italian pizza from Delisio Pizza. We shared the Mushroom Trio which comprised of white wine, mushrooms, marinated wild Italian mushrooms and ricotta. There was an abundance of earthy flavours which combined well with the smooth, creamy ricotta. The crispy crust married the flavours perfectly.

As everyone usually say, there’s always a stomach for dessert. Our gelato journey starts at Sub Zero Gelato where each gelato is a mouthful of rich flavour made with love. We had the opportunity to try all the gelato. Our favourite flavour? This is one tough question…..we just loved them all!!

To finish off our food journey and adventure, we head to Spirals Cinnamon for some fresh cinnamon scrolls. We had the Salted Butterscotch Pecan from May’s (Spirals Cinnamon owner) recommendation. They were fresh in flavour, divine and made full of love! Spirals Cinnamon also has a store dedicated to all things cinnamon scrolls at Mount Hawthorn. If you see them around, do check out their range of tasty and amazing cinnamon scrolls.
