Breakkie at Boubar

Located in the heart of Nedlands along Hampden Road is Boubar. Boubar is an independently owned eatery which serves locally-roasted coffee, breakfast and lunches from local produce.

My work colleague Alexis and I visited Boubar for breakfast one Tuesday morning before work. You will be surprised that the cafe was busy on an 8am Tuesday morning with locals, office workers and students getting their breakkie and coffee fix.

I had the Brioche French Toast ($17) with peach, strawberry and maple with sweetened mascarpone. The brioche was so soft and fluffy with a nice hint of sweetness. The peach, strawberry and maple added a sweet and fruity touch to the french toast which gave your tastebuds a fruit party.

Alexis had the Huevos Rancheros ($20) which comprised of tomato spiced pinto beans, fried egg, avocado and lime salsa and grilled tortilla. According to Alexis, this was a very hearty and heartwarming dish. I had a taste and the dish was bursting full of tomato based flavours (my favourite kind of flavour!) and I had to agree that it looks like quite a filling breakkie dish which will keep you feeling full until lunch!

For drinks to accompany our breakkie, I had an Iced Coffee and Alexis had the Citrus Melon, a concoction of orange, watermelon and lemon. Overall, we enjoyed our breakfast at Boubar and thought that the food was pretty good. Now we know why Boubar is such a popular joint for breakfast at Nedlands.

The views expressed are entirely the writer’s own. We would like to thank Boubar for the delicious breakfast and for SimTail for extending the invitation to us for a complimentary meal at Boubar.
