Launch of the Chilli Fest at Northbridge Brewing Company

Yesterday I was invited to attend the launch of the Chilli Fest at Northbridge Brewing Company along with other bloggers. If you love chilli and all things spice, the Chilli Fest is one that you should not miss and is held this week only from 12th to 18th September.

We started with some Monkey Bread ($9) with chilli, cheese, garlic and herb, ready to be ripped apart! It’s soft in texture, cheesy with a hint of spice which slowly kicked its way in. img_6994

Next up was the Chilli Mud Crab ($39) with garlic, tomato, lime and char grilled bread. The chilli mud crab was delicious and flavoursome with a hint of spice. Think large claws packed full of crab meat. It’s a dish that requires you to eat with your hands and if you are wearing a pretty top, not to worry at all as bibs are provided. 🙂

We shared an 18 inch heat seeker sub ($29) comprising of 12 meat balls, 4 cheese melt and 4 flavours of heat from neutral to EXTREME! We worked our way from neutral to Trinidad Scorpion. I can tolerate chilli but only to an extent so I took a tiny bit of the Trinidad Scorpion meatball. Definitely did give me good chilli kick.

There’s also 1kg buffalo wings ($22) with four sauces along with a blue cheese dressing to cool it down. The buffalo wings were finger licking good with a light and crispy batter. Definitely complements well with any of the four sauces including the blue cheese dressing.

We sampled some Russian Roulette ($22) sliders. Usually it comes in 3 wagyu sliders, 1 with surprise, dirty onions, aioli and beer cheese. Wow! You could definitely feel the chilli kick for one of the sliders. Not for the faint hearted depending on which slider should you choose…

For our dessert, we had the chilli chocolate fondant ($12) with white chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream. When the fondant was cut open, inside revealed a very gooey centre filled with chocolate sauce with a good heat. The white chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream complements well with the chilli chocolate fondant giving it a cooling effect if it gets too hot.

Also, don’t forget to try the chilli infused beer which adds a spicy twist. It’s all about the spice for only this week at Northbridge Brewing Company. Don’t forget to share your moment of pleasure and pain and hashtag #nbcchilliface for your chance to win one of 7 $50 NBC gifts cards.
