Who does not love desserts these days? If you don’t have a sweet tooth, you are well missing out.
Opening Measure Dessert Bar at Mount Lawley is Karmen Lu’s (former Masterchef 2016 contestant) dream along with her partner, Ryan. If you have watched last year’s Masterchef you will also know that Karmen is the queen of desserts. The desserts at Measure are not only the main attraction. Measure also boasts an extensive drinks menu to complement the desserts. There’s also local Australian whisky, Whipper Snapper Upshot, which my dad noticed and Ryan pointed out that it’s made locally in Perth!
We arrived at Measure in the afternoon and was immediately greeted by Ryan who served us and provided us with recommendations. We had the Whisky Namelaka ($15) comprising of Lagavulin whisky, white chocolate, honeycomb and strawberry. If you love whisky, you will love the Whisky Namelaka. There’s a great flavour of whisky in this dessert complementing well with the crunchy honeycomb and sweetness from the strawberry. Whisky lovers, this dessert can be pretty addictive.
Next up, we had the Yuzu Creme Brulee ($13) with matcha gelato and kinako biscotti. One of the joys of eating creme brulee is to break the caramelised surface to dig into the smooth custard. The Yuzu Creme Brulee was delightful with a fresh tangy flavour from the yuzu. It’s a beautiful dessert with a crunch from the biscotti and the matcha gelato adds a japanese twist to the creme brulee. One of our favourites.
Last but not least, we had the Marquise ($12) which consists of chocolate tofu marquise, espresso sorbet and hazelnut praline. Compared to the two other desserts we had, this dessert was richer in flavour. Love coffee and chocolate? This dessert is for you! The chocolate tofu marquise which was rich in flavour balanced well with the espresso sorbet and sweetness from the hazelnut praline.
As we were there in the afternoon, there were a limited amount of desserts we can order from the menu available. Come from 6pm onwards and you will get the full dessert menu. There’s also a 3 course and 5 course dessert tasting menu if you want to treat yourself too! Did Measure Dessert Bar measured up for success? For us it sure did!
