Summer is here which means an early start to the day, beautiful beach weather and blue skies and sunshine. Two weekends ago, we were invited for brunch at The Blue Duck, Cottesloe. We were seated by the window facing the pristine blue ocean. It was a perfect day for brunch by the Indian Ocean.
Elwyn had the Blue Duck Style Eggs Benedict ($19.50) which consists of beetroot cured salmon, fresh spinach, poached eggs, potato rosti and hollandaise. The tasty potato rosti was crispy on the outside complementing well with the fresh beetroot cured salmon. We loved the creamy flavour of the hollandaise sauce which was the perfect touch to the dish.
I had the Buttermilk Pancakes with banana espuma, honey comb, maple popcorn and dukkah ($16). I really enjoyed my pancakes and thought it was soft and fluffy, like how a perfectly cooked pancake should be. The honeycomb and maple popcorn added a hint of crunch and sweetness to the pancakes. Simply stunning.
Overall, Elwyn and I enjoyed our brunch at The Blue Duck Cottesloe. We thought that the service was excellent – friendly and attentive. With such stunning views of the ocean coupled with lovely food, I will definitely be making a trip back to The Blue Duck for breakfast or perhaps to catch the sunset for dinner.
