A few weeks ago, I was invited to try Hey Griller with other Perth food bloggers. New to the food scene in Victoria Park, Hey Griller serves up Asian fusion food. It was a tough decision to decide what to order but in the end we had a bit of a taste of nearly each dish.
We had some entrees to share. The lamb skewers came in as the favourite on the table. It’s deliciously tender, flavoursome and well seasoned.
Apart from the skewers, we sampled other entrees from the grilled squid, chicken wings, prawn toast to the chicken karima. The chicken karima is a crispy pastry stuffed with grilled chicken mixed with onions, mayonnaise, cheese and apples, served with chips had a lovely crunch on the outside complementing well with the creamy textures of the mayonnaise and tenderly grilled chicken. Another hit on the table were the prawn toast which was crunchy with a hint of spice and not forgetting, the grilled squid. Overall, most of the entrees were well received by the table.
The star at Hey Griller would be the signature flaming steaks where the HG house made flaming sauce is poured as the finishing touches on the steak. It’s a magic show on the table. I definitely had a food envy and wished that I had steak on that night but there’s always round two right?! I was offered a taste test of the steak and it was cooked perfectly to medium – tender and juicy.
What did I have for my mains? I had the salmon instead which was cooked to perfection with a crispy skin on top. The cauliflower puree which was light and creamy in flavour complements well with the sweetness of the salmon, topped with an extra crunch from the pistachios.
For desserts, I had the Matcha Puff which is a green tea infused cream puff filled with delicious custard, served with a scoop of refreshing lime sorbet. If you’re opting for a light textured dessert, the matcha puff definitely hits the mark. It would be even better if the green tea flavour would be a tad stronger but that’s just me because I love my green tea. 🙂
One of the winners for the dessert across the table would be the chocolate and hazelnut fudge which was rich in chocolate and hazelnut flavours topped with an ooey gooey torched marshmallow. It was so decadent and definitely a clear winner!
I had an enjoyable experience at Hey Griller from the delicious food, friendly service and the warm and comfortable interior. I would like to thank Evan and team from Hey Griller for the feast of food and to Wayne from @foodbloggerperth for inviting me. Hey Griller is definitely worth the try!
