Tuck away in the heart of Northbridge, in a small laneway along Aberdeen Street, is Varsity burgers. It’s one hidden gem located off the main road which is not too hard to locate. Before catching Burnt at Cinema Paradiso, Elwyn and I sat under the stars indulging in our three burgers or should I perhaps say, a burger feast.
We kickstart the burger feast with the Double Cheese Deluxe Burger, a double cheeseburger with layers of lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles & varsity mayo. It’s one hearty, deluxe burger. Think of those layers of melted cheese sandwiched in between juicy patties, creamy mayo, topped with soft fluffy burger buns. Mmmmm. It’s burger love.
We decided to try something different – the Presley burger. It’s a double cheeseburger with a twist of bacon crunchy peanut butter & smashed banana. One bite and there’s a combination of savoury and sweet, from the nutty flavours of the peanut butter to the sweet textures of the smashed banana. It’s an acquired taste.
I can’t believe how we managed to finish off three hearty and oh-so-good burgers. It’s an epic burger feast. Burger cravings satisfied. I don’t know about you but I reckon that competition is getting tough in the burger scene out there.
