Tucked away in the heart of Fremantle at 12 Norfolk Street is Mister Finch, offering locals breakfast, brunch, lunch and coffee. You will not be able to miss it as from the outside it is a heritage listed house which is now a reformed cafe. One step inside and the interior of the cafe is full of character, with it’s rustic furnitures and interior. Apart from serving breakfast and lunch, you can also find home made cakes, fresh salads, patties, lamingtons and rolls at Mister Finch. Come for lunch at Mister Finch and you will get the opportunity to indulge in their house made soft tacos. It’s two tacos per serve but if you would love to try a bit of everything, you are more than welcome to mix and match. I love having a bit of variety so I went for the mix and match option. We had the slow cooked spiced beef taco with tomato salsa and avocado cream. I love how the beef is tender, complementing well with the creamy and fresh textures of the avocado cream. The Cuban fish taco with citrus mango slaw and avocado cream taco was as good as the beef. The fish is crisp on the outside and the citrus mango slaw gives a punch of freshness and citrus-y flavours to the tacos.
I also had a taste of the tandoori chicken taco with tomato and avocado salsa and sour cream and thought that it was pretty delicious. The chicken was marinated to perfection, juicy and tender and was flavoursome. If you want to try something different, I highly recommend the quinoa and sweet potato taco with roasted cranberry and pomegranate salsa. The cranberry and pomegranate salsa adds a hint of freshness and sweetness to the taco with an additional crunch from the quinoa.
To finish off the lunch, I had a lemon curd lamington. I haven’t quite come across a lemon curd lamington before and I thought that the lemon curd lamington at Mister Finch was really delicious! Coated well with coconut on the outside, it’s decadent with a lovely lemon flavour. If you are a big fan of all things lemon, you will definitely love the lemon curd lamington.
Overall, I enjoyed the food at Mister Finch and can’t wait to be back for breakfast and more lemon curd lamingtons. With a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere, Mister Finch makes a perfect place to catch up with friends over food and coffee or perhaps indulge in a lemon curd lamington. Plus, it’s also featured in the 2015/2016 Entertainment book.
